Edged Sound
Whether played with sticks or with the foot, Paiste sound edge hi-hats are much more articulate than regular cymbals. They had a huge impact on my playing this weekend, giving me a bigger hi-hat sound, both open and closed, and more cutting foot-played notes. These foot-played notes really helped bring out the backbeat when playing with brushes, which I did a lot of at the Stamford Arms, Groby on Sunday. The landlady had asked us to keep the first set low key, so we chose to play all the swing numbers in our set which of course benefitted from the use of brushes.
