The mini-kit proved itself once again at last night's gig and this morning's baptism service. Stripped down to 'piccolo' bass, piccolo snare and Paiste hi-hats, the set supplies all the sounds needed to accompany any music. To the admiration of other musicians and the incredulity of the general public. Particularly when they see a two inch deep bass drum and hear the amount of sound it kicks out. Drum sound is truly down to choice of drum heads, not the shell.

The 12" piccolo snare is surprisingly versatile. Over several hours of playing I tuned the top head up a bit and slackened off the snares. The 'Adi' sound soon materialised - big snare sound; solid cross-stick; ringing rimshot; medium tom sound. It takes work to get these often conflicting sounds to work on one drum. You usually get one and not the others... but it is possible. Cornerstone, like I said.
